Kobato is a 24-episode anime adaption of the manga of the same name by CLAMP. The series premiered in the autumn of 2009, directed by Mitsuyuki Masuhara and animated by Madhouse, with scripts supervised by CLAMP's Nanase Ohkawa[1][2] and XxxHolic writer Michiko Yokote. The anime began its broadcast on October 6, 2009.[3]
Hiromi Katō, the character designer of Kobato., said 'Kobato. itself is kind of different from past CLAMP works, especially the way the eyes are drawn, we are trying to make it as close as we can to the original. The costumes will change in each episode.'
The opening theme, 'Magic Number', is performed by Maaya Sakamoto and the ending theme Jellyfish no Kokuhaku by Megumi Nakajima.[4]A second ending theme, starting from episode 20, is 'Watashi ni Dekiru Koto', performed by Megumi Nakajima.

Due to her naïveté, Kobato gets herself into trouble until a stranger saves her. | Ioryogi tells Kobato she must heal people's heart in order to fill her bottle. She runs into a man giving out tissues and helps him by taking the whole box. While passing them out, she walks into the same stranger from before. Kobato follows him to say thank you, and ends up at a daycare, Yomogi Nursery, run by Sayaka Okiura. She finds out that the stranger, Kiyokazu Fujimoto, works there, and spends the day playing with the children there. At the end of the day, she finds a boy from the nursery on a swing set. He tells her that his mother can't pick him up yet, but asks Kobato not to think badly of her because she is working hard for his sake. Kobato praises his mother, healing his heart and earning her first konpeito. | ||||

| Sayaka spots Kobato sleeping in a park and takes her to a friend, Chitose Mihara, who gives her a room in her apartment building. Kobato runs into a school girl, Mutsumi, outside. The next day, after failing to help anyone, Kobato gets her umbrella stolen and runs into Mutsumi again, who lets Kobato borrow her umbrella. They meet again later and Mutsumi sees her crush Katsuragi underneath with another girl. The next day, Kobato asks Katsuragi to share an umbrella with Mutsumi. Mutsumi meets him and they leave together, giving Kobato another konpeito. | ||||

| Kobato meets a sad looking angel Kohaku in the streets. She sees her again the next day with the doctor (Shūichirō Kudō) Kohaku loves. After talking to Kohaku, Kobato is determined to make Kohaku and the doctor go on a date. Kobato enters a lottery to get two amusement park tickets, but ends up with a crocodile doll. She bumps into Fujimoto, who gives her his tickets for the stuffed animal. She hurries to Kohaku and gives her the tickets. Kobato is thankful but receives no konpeito because Kohaku's heart wasn't in pain. | While trying to read a firefly picture book to the children, Kobato meets the author of the book, who asks her to not read it anymore. Wondering about his strange request, she decides to find a way to cheer him up, and in the process gains another konpeito. Before departing, Kobato receives a call from a debt collector who claims that the nursery will be shut down; Ioryogi stays behind to investigate. | With Valentine's Day coming up, Kobato wants to throw a party at the nursery, and decides to work at Tirol again to pay for it. After work, she sees a flash and hears some voices, one of them much like Ioryogi's. They turn out to be world-jumping travelers Syaoran, Fai, Kurogane and Mokona, who she lets stay in her room until they have to leave again. They work to pay her back. At Tirol, Syaoran says that he has someone waiting for him, but he does not know when he will be able to see her again (Sakura). Kobato realizes she wants to be with Fujimoto. They all have to leave after only a night, but have earned enough money that Kobato has more than enough to pay for the party. | ||||

| Kazuto shows up again, demanding payment. Kobato is worried, and decides to wait outside his office. When he comes out she asks him about his feelings for Sayaka. Kobato passes out from the cold rain, and Kazuto carries her back to the nursery, where Sayaka and Kazuto resolve the tension. Sayaka asks Kazuto to wait until the children's graduation before closing down the nursery. He agrees and Kobato receives two konpeitos. | After Kobato leaves, everyone forgets about her. Fujimoto suddenly remembers Kobato after seeing her konpeito, and rushes around asking people if they remember Kobato. All of them don't until he asks Kohaku. She assures him about Kobato, and that they will surely meet again. That is a several year time-skip. Fujimoto becomes a lawyer. When he is asked to help with a case of inheritance, he meets Kobato at an old estate, who has forgotten her previous memories. Her memory is restored by the konpeito Fujimoto gives her and the song she sings. As Kobato and Fujimoto embrace, all the lives Kobato touched when she was gathering konpeitos are reviewed. |

A convicted criminal is on the run after busting out of a prison transport van. In his desperate quest for freedom the man assaults Grace and takes a civilian woman hostage. Josh allows himself to be taken hostage. Preferring death to capture, the criminal forces Josh into a sadistic game of Russian roulette. Despite his ordeal Josh chooses to save the man's life and convinces him to surrender. Grace's injury causes her husband Connor to question her choice of careers.

The tactical response team intercepts a known drug dealer and police informer, and discovers that an armed robbery is about to take place at a suburban pub. Lawson, Grace and Josh arrive at the hotel where the robbery turns into a siege situation when the criminals barricade themselves inside and take the people in the pub as hostages. One of the criminals inside falls through a trapdoor and is severely injured so Dom is sent in undercover as an ambulance officer.
Dom is held up at a doctor's appointment for his pregnant wife and is hurrying towards the siege when a woman crashes into the rear of his car. He's delayed by the flirtatious woman who is highly impressed that he is a cop. Kerry and Lawson begin working well together for the first time.

Josh, Grace and Michael investigate an alarm at a high-security laboratory and find that intruders have freed all the research animals from their cages. A tag left on the outside of the building indicates that a group of animal rights activists calling themselves 'Freedom From Torture' may have committed the crime.
As the Tactical Response team move through the building Michael discovers a caged monkey left behind. He's consoling the animal when it bites him on the finger. He is later informed by one of the facility's scientific researchers that the monkey could be carrying a disease fatal to humans. Michael is hurried off to hospital for a series of pathology tests. He fears the worst.
Meanwhile Stella, who was earlier working with Lawson and Dom as backup to detectives staking out a possible crime, has discovered that the criminals aborted their activities after being tipped off. She finds out that the informant is someone she knows very well.

Tactical Response attends a high-speed car chase between two teenagers from rival high schools that ends in a near fatal car crash. In a search for the student who caused the crash the Tactical Response team arrive at a huge suburban party, to find that a group of youths has stolen a handgun from a security guard. Michael and Stella go in undercover to retrieve the stolen weapon. The party turns into a violent riot after a rival gang crashes the party seeking revenge. Things continue to heat up between Josh and Grace. With Grace's husband away will Josh spend the night?

Josh, Grace and Michael investigate an alarm at a high-security laboratory and find that intruders have freed all the research animals from their cages. A tag left on the outside of the building indicates that a group of animal rights activists calling themselves 'Freedom From Torture' may have committed the crime.
As the Tactical Response team move through the building Michael discovers a caged monkey left behind. He's consoling the animal when it bites him on the finger. He is later informed by one of the facility's scientific researchers that the monkey could be carrying a disease fatal to humans. Michael is hurried off to hospital for a series of pathology tests. He fears the worst.
Meanwhile Stella, who was earlier working with Lawson and Dom as backup to detectives staking out a possible crime, has discovered that the criminals aborted their activities after being tipped off. She finds out that the informant is someone she knows very well.

Tactical Response attends a high-speed car chase between two teenagers from rival high schools that ends in a near fatal car crash. The dispute turns nasty and the husband flees the house leaving his wife unconscious and bleeding. Tactical Response go after the man who is heavily armed and dangerous, a trained army sniper. Armed with a high-powered hunting rifle, the man is cornered on the roof of a high rise building. Lawson knows it will be almost impossible to talk him down.
